The multi-purpose pipe’s material can choose rubber or TPR. TPR refers to a physical mix of NBR (nitrile-butadiene rubber) and PVC. TPR material contains both the physical characteristics of rubber and plastic, meanwhile TPR involves the properties of thermoplastic. Thermoplasticity refers to the ability of a substance to flow and deform when heated, and maintain a certain shape after cooling. TPR material exhibits thermoplastic properties to be easy to perform molding processes such as extrusion, injection, or blow molding. Compared with rubber multi-purpose hoses, TPR multipurpose hoses are lighter and cheaper, however TPR materials’ abrasion resistance performance is not as good as rubber materials.
Rubber and TPR are both superior materials at oil mist resistance, ozone resistance, ultra-violent (UV) resistance, and oil resistance.
Reinforcement and the working pressure
Rubber or TPR multipurpose hose can be reinforced by 1 or 2 ply braided polyester thread. Within 1 inch inside diameter size, the multi-purpose hoses are able to take 20 bar working pressure. The rubber hose can choose the size from 3/16 inch to 2 inch, which can withstand 15 bar working pressure while you choose 1 inch to 2 inch inside diameter size. TPR hoses’ sizes are from 1/4 inch to 1 inch.
When you choose rubber hoses, you have to pay attention to whether the characteristics of hoses could satisfy your project’s needs. The sudden change of the working pressure during using will negatively impact the service life of the hose. Each hose has its minimum bending radius. While you use or store the hose, you should be careful to bend the hoses, otherwise it might damage the rubber hoses’ construction. After you use the rubber hoses, please clean and empty the inner side of the hoses, especially after you use the rubber hose to transport corrosion materials.
